MTB Trail
The MTB trail was designed to reward advanced riders with a highly enjoyable ride, but also to be fun for those not so experienced. There are short loops of 4km and 6km for those wanting a smaller challenge. The popular 10km loop contains everything the seasoned mountain biker could wish for. There are some steep climbs, stretches of flowing single track and jeep track to the hearts desire. The infamous 12km loop adds 2km of gnarly terrain, specifically for those with an appetite for "steep and rocky". The trail offers opportunity to enjoy the impressive bio-diversity of RoamRooiberg from your bike, with wonderful views from the high points. Be sure to stop and appreciate the vast views of the the valley and the mountains. We have rental bicycles available for those who could not bring their's along.
Hiking Trail
The 2-hour hiking trail was laid out with the help of CapeNature. Here you can appreciate the natural diversity the property has to offer. The trail is demanding enough for those looking for a challenge, but is also be enjoyed by beginners. Trail runners seem to have arrived in TR heaven on the hiking trail. Hikers are also welcome to use the MTB trail, looking out for those on their bicycles.
Rowing
Those with a kayak or canoe can row on the farm dam. Entry is safe and easy. We have rental kayaks available.
Bird Watching
The region has an astonishing variety of birds, from the smallest fairy flycatcher to raptors like jackal buzzard and fish eagle. Most can be seen on the property.
Botanizing
The floral diversity is of the region is unique. Those interested will appreciate the collection of fynbos, renosterveld and succulent Karoo.
Photography
The property rewards those interested in nature photograhy. Be your focus on flora, butterflies, insects, reptiles, other fauna or even stars, you can shoot to your hearts desire.
Scorpion Hunting
There are many interesting scorpions at RoamRooiberg. During the hotter months we learn about them and their ways by hunting for them with ultra violet lights at night. A scorpion hunt is a highly educational experience, also helping us to be relieved of our fear for these amazing creatures.
